About our Staff
A Breadth of Experience --- Which is Difficult to
Find These Days! |
EDA is an association of professionals with both full-time and part-time persons.
Our professionals have more than ten years of relevant job experience and most have
over fifteen years. Since 1986, EDA staff has been successfully creating products
for both small start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. They have earned a reputation for
technically innovative, reliable, and cost-effective product design. The manager and chief
engineer of EDA has an unusually wide range and depth of experience in the
design of electronic products and systems. This means your product will have the technical
and cost advantages that come with this experience. The following is representative of the background of some of the key staff:
- Tom S.: (Chief
Engineer) BSEE/ MSEE with High Honors from Univ. of Maryland (1968) with post-graduate work
at Georgetown Univ., Univ. of Wisconsin, UCLA, and U.S.F. He has been an adjunct professor
at U.S.F teaching digital signal processing. Prior to EDA he worked as a Senior Engineer
or Director of Engineering for NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, John Hopkins Univ.
Applied Physics Laboratory, Honeywell Communications, Applied Medical Research Corp., J
& J Critikon and Paradyne Corporation. Design responsibility has ranged from advanced
satellite telemetry, range/range rate and command systems to aircraft security systems to
medical monitoring systems. He holds over fifteen patents and is listed in Strathmore's
Who's Who.
- Dr. J. Kie T.: (Electro-Medical Sensors Scientist ): Ph.D. Biomedical Engineering from Case
Western Reserve; MSEE Univ. of Kentucky; Prior to EDA, has had design responsibility at
Critikon, Biometrics, Pacesetter, and other medical companies with design responsibility
ranging from oximetry sensors (transcutaneous, pulse, fetal) to exercise computers. Holder
of seven patents. Numerous publications ranging from oximetry to cardiac pathology.
- George S..: (Software Engineer) Over fifteen years experience with PC based programming for
embedded and hardware control applications. Experienced with embedded C compilers,
C++ , C# and related languages.
- Paul S. :
(Mechanical Engineer) BSME,: Designed complex EMC tolerant electronic packaging for
Lockheed-Martin and the like. Experienced with sheet metal and plastics and uses CAD
Pro-E and solid modeling processes. Paul has over 15 years related experience.
- Art B.: (Industrial
Designer) Over 20 years experience with medical and industrial product package design.
Initial presentations are typically in sketch and air brush form for lower cost renditions
of planned packaging.
- George F. : (Electro-Mechanical Designer): EDA's designers are experienced with
AutoCAD, CadSoft Eagle, Corel Draw, etc. and each have over fifteen years experience
in packaging design and related metal/ plastics design, and PWB layout. Complex mechanical
parts are CAD modeled and then proto fabricated using Stereo Lithography Apparatus (SLA).
- Ed E. (Sr.
Lab Techncian): All support technicians have over ten years electronics experience and
have at least a two year electronics degree. Ed is also experienced with PWB
layout tools and C embedded firmware coding using the CCS compiler for PIC processors.
Associated Industrial Design Company:
- BlackHagen Design: an associated group of over five industrial designers with a wide range of
product enclosure design experience tailored for classy looks and a full-rnage of human
factors considerations. Solid Modeling (Solid Works 2000, Alias 9.5) and other
CAD tools(AutoCAD 14.) are used for your renderings and package design drawings.
The combination of EDA's electronics design, BlackHagen's enclosure design, and
nearby manufacturing are a powerful combination to create your world-class product!
Regulatory Compliance:
Virtually
every product being brought to market must pass one or more regulatory compliance tests.
Most of us are familiar with the U/Lsafety mark but things have gotten more involved. Now
FCC, IEC and FDA typically get into your product planning - like it or not. EDA
designs its product to meet all known applicable standards for your product but its
engineering staff cannot keep up with the ever expanding detail involved in
"nursing" your product through compliance testing. EDA may bring in one
of its associate experts (Techni-Reg) as needed to assist in this inevitable part of your
product design process.
